Chemical Biography

Emilien completed his PhD at the Département de Chimie Moléculaire, University of Grenoble under the supervision of Pierre Yves Chavant and Véronique Blandin. Emilien’s doctoral research involved the synthesis of arylboronic esters and Pd-catalyzed direct arylation reactions.

In April 2013, Emilien joined our group on a Carl Trygger postdoctoral fellowship. His project involved a combination of catalytic C-H activation, (hetero)aryne and organoboronate chemistry. Emilien developed a new class of boryl (hetero)aryne precursors in which either the boronate or aryne reactivity can be activated selectively. The results were published in Angewandte Chemie (see right). In 2016 Emilien joined BioWorks in Uppsala and in 2017 he moved to work for Recipharm.
