Jia-jie Yan

PhD student (Engman group, 2013-2017)

Chemical biography

Jiajie obtained his B.Sc. degree in pharmacy in 2010 at Soochow University, China, and then his M.Sc. degree in medicinal chemistry at 2013 at Guangzhou Institutes of Biomedicine and Health, Chinese Academy of Sciences. Later that year, Jiajie joined the group of Prof. Lars Engman (now emeritus) as a PhD student at Uppsala University. During his PhD he worked on the development of chalcogen-based regenerable antioxidants. In October 2017, Jiajie defended his PhD and joined Prof. David Procter’s group at the University of Manchester in early 2018.

Towards the end of his PhD Jiajie worked closely together with Jagadeesh on some novel aryne-related chemistry as part of a collaboration project between the Engman group and our own. Jiajie is therefore an honorary member of our group.
