Zachary X. Giustra

Chemical biography

Zachary arrived in our group in February 2020 after being awarded a PhD from Boston College. His graduate research included stints in both Dr. Kian Tan’s group, where Zachary worked on organocatalytic functionalization of poly-hydroxylated compounds, and in Dr. Shih-Yuan Liu’s group, where he worked on fundamental synthetic applications of boron-nitrogen containing heterocycles with a view to improving fuel and energy storage. Prior to his graduate research, Zachary obtained a BA in Chemistry from Middlebury College, VT.

In our group, Zachary is working on several approaches to more efficient and greener organic synthesis using transition metals and new ways to control selectivity in reactive intermediates.
