Karthik becomes the first student from our group to get his PhD. Congratulations, Karthik! A special thank you goes Prof. Victor Snieckus, who travelled from Canada to provide such an interesting opposition.
In what some Swedish observers have already called Spikning, Karthik has kept up an archaic tradition and nailed his freshly printed PhD thesis to a plank of wood. And there was much rejoicing! The defence is the next and final hurdle.
Congratulations to Karthik, Carina and our collaborators. It turns out you can use Ru catalysts to C-H silylate heteroarenes with or without directing groups, no elimination of side chains, with no need for protecting groups and, if you look a little closer, you'll glimpse a sneaky C4-H activation of gramines!
Congratulations to Carina and Karthik! Their work on Ru-catalysed oxidative indole C-H arylation is published in Chem. Eur. J.
